On 16th January 2019  our 13th Annual General Meeting held on at 11-30 am at Comrade Sushil Chakraborty Mancha of City Branch 9,fifth floor Jeevan Ganga,of KMD1.Our Chief Guest Comrade Sumit Baran Ray General Secretary Eastern Zone of NFIFWI inaugareted the meeting with lighting of Sacred Lamps with other dignatories Sri.Debashis Nath G.S of KSD,Sri Shib Sankar Mitra ,& Sri Puspendu De,G.S.and President of KMD1.N.F.I.F.W.I.After that our President Sri S.L.De welcome all the leaders ,and members of the association.In the beginning we got beautiful chanting of Bed strotto as inaugural song by Sri Chiranjit Guha. There after different Guest Speaker told there speeches one by one.     Sri S.B.Ray .Zonal Secretary discussed many important issue s with our members. He assured for a all India body and proposed many valuable suggestion for us. After lunch break the Report of the General Secretary and Audited Accounts for last two years(April 2017 to 31Dec.2017 and for the year 2018) both were placed before members,and with a few rectifications ,all were accepted. Resolutions were read out by Sri Abhijit Mitra our Vice President, & vote of thanks by Sri Tapas Ghosal. And at the end National Anthem by all.

At the end the august house selected a panel consisting of 23 Executive members for the 2019/2020. On 24th January 2019 the Executive Committee annaounced Sri S.L.De as President. An appeal from pensioners.

Dear Sir,
It is an appeal from Pensioners for your kind attention. Durga puja is the greatest festival of Eastern India, the holidays shall start on. 27th September 2017 and the Offices will be open 3rd October 2017,again 5th October 2017 is a complete holiday. Bank remain closed on 3rd October 17. It is therefore requested to your kind perusal that the Pension for the month of September 2017 be credited to the pensioners respective Bank before the closing of banking hours on 25th September 17. On an early occasion, we got the favour from Mr Hemant Bhargave the then Zonal Manager. Your kind intervention in this matter is earnestly Solicited.

OUR SECRETARY

Swapan Kumar Chakraborty was born at Narkeldanga, Kolkata in 1950. Schooling: Chittaranjan High School at Kasba where he did his H.S. level studies, passed out in 1966. He graduated from South City College with Commerce as his subject in 1970.

Joined active student politics in 1964 /65; he took part in student movements. He was the representative member of B.P.S.F in South Calcutta, under the presidentship of Dinesh Majumder in the Srerampore Conference. Then he participated as a left member in college in local movements, election agitations, etc. He participated in the historical rally against Robert Macknamara in Kolkata. Protested against the expulsion of students from Presidency College with P.G.S.F. He joined the Support Extreme People War Movement in 1967. He got elected as General Secretary of all India Coordination of Revolutionaries of the Kasba, Ballygunge and Dhakuria areas. He took active part in organizing the people in the Anti American and Anti Feudal movements. Later he resigned from the post in 1969 and left for Bangladesh.

He then joined the Indo German Cultural Progamme as an artist of Mass Theatre in Antigone Project at Max Mueller Bhaban, Kolkata from 1971 till 1975. At this point he also organized movements for better progressive writings and came out with several cultural magazines. Joined LIC as a career agent in Russel Street, Kolkata 1976/77 and became a Development Officer in 1986 in City Branch 15, and went on to become the founder member of the Kasba Branch in a few months. He became a member of N.F.I.F.W.I in 1987 and got elected General Secretary of the Branch and soon he became the President of the branch. He organized the members to be active for N.F.I.F.W.I. and became Divisional President in 1996 /1977 and 1998 / 1999 for two consecutive terms. He led the agitation movements against GOIB scheme of LIC, non-cooperation movement against LICI management followed by wage cuts, dharnas etc.

He participated in and organized members’ rallies, long marches to parliament for demonstration in Delhi in 2008. Then in “Jogashema” (Cultural Office) there was a gherao movement in Bombay on 31st march in 2008. He was a part of several other movements as per the guideline of N.F.I.F.W.I till he retired from service in 2010. He joined as a member in LIC’s Retired D.O.S. Association, became an E.C. member and then Joint Secretary 2010-11. He became General Secretary on 2012. In his one year tenure he has come out with the AMRI health card for members with the help of N.F.I.F.W.I, KMD I and also launched a new website for members as per the advice of General Body and E.C members.
